I've always found it ironic.  Eric Church is best known for his raucous shows and hell-raising, establishment-challenging "Chief" persona, yet people forget his first number one song was a simple ballad called, "Love Your Love The Most."

I remember the day he sang it to Debbie in the studio, it remains one of my favorite moments we've ever had at Country 1037.

My favorite song of his?  ANOTHER ballad, "You Make It Look So Easy."

When Eric slows down and gets contemplative about his life and relationships...that's when his music really speaks to me.

This morning it happened again.

"Doing Life With Me" is the latest single he's released from a still mysterious upcoming project (rumored to be a double album in length).

"Spend my livin' givin' thanks
for the ships I never sank
every big every little in the everyday things
the notes and the words and the songs I sing
to the ones
doing life with me"

I once blogged here after a show at Coyote Joe's that "I've seen the future of country music, and his name is Eric Church."

All these years later, I hear the standard to which all others strive toward.  And his name is still, Eric Church.
