When you think of finding sharks teeth, even ordinary ones, you think about heading to or near the ocean right?  One South Carolina fossil hunter searches outside the box.

Matthew Basak is a professional fossil hunter and he even guides others and shows them how to find prehistoric treasures.  He was searching at a construction site for Shark’s teeth (not the beach) when he found an ordinary sharks tooth pretty close to the surface.  Thanks to his expert eye, he thinks to dig a few inches deeper and that is when he struck tooth hunting gold.

He found a megalodon tooth that is about 6.45 inches long and weighs at least 3 pounds.  That creature is extinct now but when alive almost four million years ago, got up to 60 feet long.
