Seriously, if there are 5 words you don't want to hear, it is these:  Beware of copperheads this spring.  Now, we get this warning every spring in North Carolina, especially in Union County (where we live).  However, this spring it's supposed to be much worse thanks to these.

Yup, the cicadas are back and guess who thinks these little boogers are a delicacy?  Yup, Mr. Copperhead-only one of the deadliest snakes in North America, a North Carolina resident, and an "ambush predator."

So an extra word of warning this year:  if you hear or see cicadas, be VERY careful where you step.  Copperheads blend in to the landscape and trust me, the last thing in the world you want to do is step on one.
