Is The US Heading For An Olympic Boycott?

On the day that the official invitations for the 2022 Winter Olympiad were issued by the International Olympic Committee comes a rumor that The United States and its allies are considering a boycott of the games in Beijing over alleged human rights violations.

Someone better tell the woke community that there are some places in the world that don't give a crap. China? Top of the list. The response to this boycott notion from the Chinese government was clear. Once the Biden Administration said it was talking with allies about the combined response to the human rights abuse claims, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson not only rejected the accusations but warned of an unspecified “robust Chinese response” to a potential Olympics boycott.

"The politicization of sports will damage the spirit of the Olympic Charter and the interests of athletes from all countries. The international community including the U.S. Olympic Committee will not accept it.” For a world recovering from a global pandemic, for athletes that have trained their whole lives for this moment, I hope this isn't the hill we and our allies decide to plant their flag. It's not the time.
