For Carolina Panthers fans, the 2004 Super Bowl was extremely memorable.  The team made an unlikely charge to its first Super Bowl appearance and a fourth quarter rally came up just short against the New England Patriots, losing 32-29.  For the rest of the country, that game is known more for its infamous halftime show than the game itself.

Yup, this was the infamous "wardrobe malfunction."  At the very end of the performance featuring Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson, he appears to rip her top off exposing her right breast.  Even as I watched this video again this morning I thought, "This was no accident.  How did he get away with this?"  Turns out, this may be the right POV to have after all.

In an recent interview with Page Six-associated with a forthcoming book-stylist Wayne Scot Lukas alleged that Timberlake "insisted on doing something bigger than their performance." The reason is more disturbing. It was all about "one-upping" his ex Britney Spears who had recently made a splash by kissing Madonna on MTV's Video Music Awards.

Lukas goes on to point out that JT and Janet have made their peace over the incident (he recently made a very public apology), but still, if this is true...does that apology cover it? You can make the argument that Janet Jackson's career has NEVER been the same. Yet his has continue to thrive.
