How should I put this…Hollywood tried for, and didn’t get a Hollywood ending.  It has been a tradition since 1940 that the award for “Best Picture,” regarded as the night’s biggest award, be presented last at The Oscars.  Well, last night it was announced that “Best Actress” and “Best Actor” would close the night.  It appeared to all as if producers were building towards a super sentimental moment as the late Chadwick Boseman, nominated for Best Actor for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” was set to collect the coveted prize.  The actor, who passed away tragically from colon cancer last year at age 43, had already won the top acting prize from The Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and The Critic’s Choice Awards.  So the stage was set…Boseman’s widow ready to make an amazing acceptance speech on her late husband’s behalf.  And then…

That’s it.  That’s how the show ended.  Not only did Boseman NOT win, but the award show closed with the recipient of its final prize not even being in attendance.  Ooops.  So much for the “Hollywood Ending” to Hollywood’s biggest self-congratulatory night.  As you might expect, the toilet of the internet, “Twitter,” has exploded with outrage.  However, Tinsel town’s saving grace may be this from the winner.  Anthony Hopkins posted this acceptance speech from his home in Wales.  As you might expect, he was classy, dignified, humble and yes, paid tribute to Boseman.
