Talk about a “WOW” headline. The Centner Academy in Miami is funded by an anti-vaccination activist. On Monday a notice was sent to parents of their new policy for its two campuses and roughly 300 students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. This is where it gets a little weird. Teachers/staff who have already taken the vaccine have been told to continue showing up for work, but to stay quarantined from students.
The school’s co-founder, Leila Centner further asked those who have not received a Coronavirus vaccine to hold off until the end of the school year. In fact, she recommended holding off until research shows how the vaccine might affect the non-vaccinated. WELL…according Dr. Aileen Marty, an infectious disease specialist with Florida International University’s Wertheim College of Medicine, THERE IS NO evidence that unvaccinated people face any risks from the vaccinations of others. Look, I get that this is a private school, and therefore can make its own rules, but doesn’t this seem a bit crazy…or is it just me?
