I am so embarrassed and a little ashamed of myself. I am watching 'Bridgerton' for the third time. Don't make fun of me, I know that is ridiculous. But the show is so good and sometimes there just isn't anything better on.
You know the premise. It centers around the prominent Bridgerton family, specifically the daughter Daphne , and her road to try and find a husband. Enter "The Duke" , her swoon worthy friend who later becomes her red hot lover and ultimately (spoiler alert) husband. And then there is the Featherington family, the nouveau riche, counterpart to the Bridgerton family.
The show is narrated by Julie Andrews as "Lady Whistledown" reporting on comings and going from "the ton". But in the world of this series what do they get right and what do they get wrong.
Maria Sullivan from dating.com breaks it all down for us. She says the show's depiction of dating in regency 1800s is pretty accurate. Once you reach a certain age it is all about dating and marriage and life revolves around it.
She says one thing they get wrong is the depiction of the "meet-cutes" as she calls them. The art of the swoon was not perceived the way it is shown in the show. In the show it is used as a way to entice a potential suitor but in real life it was probably perceived as a weakness.
