Marijuana Is Now Legal In One Part Of North Carolina

There is one place in the Carolinas where marijuana will be legal.  Yesterday the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians approved the possession of up to one ounce of the substance on tribal land.

As a sovereign nation the tribe sets its own laws.  Marijuana remains illegal on both the state and federal level . Reportedly the Cherokee nation hopes to eventually have dispensaries.

Many people who use marijuana do so for pain management and not just for recreation. Of course some DO use marijuana for recreation, Willie Nelson most notably comes to mind:)  He is probably the most vocal country artist that proposes making it legal everywhere.  Principal Chief Richard Sneed reportedly says this is only the beginning.
