You can now openly carry a firearm in South Carolina if you have a concealed weapons permit and training.

The Open Carry with Training Act does require background checks. Governor McMaster signed the legislation which allows residents to open carry once they've gone through the training to get a concealed weapon permit.

It also waives the 50-dollar fee. The new law goes into effect on August 16th. South Carolina was one of only five states without such a law.
