Vets Are Warning Pet Owners To Keep Our Dogs and Cats Away From Cicadas
Oh this is good information. I don’t know about you but my dog Winnie LOVES insects. Right now she is really into snapping at and ingesting bumble bees. My girl loves her the teddy bear of the bee world stinger and all. But here in an insect I will try my best to keep her away from.
Veterinarians are warning pet owners to keep our cats and dogs away from cicadas. Apparently dogs shouldn’t eat cicadas because their exoskeleton is very hard to digest.
Ohio State University professor Joe Boggs compares eating a cicada to eating something with wrappers on it. Cats are known to chase cicadas and knock off their legs and wings. These particular bugs are out for the first time in seventeen years.
