Supreme Court Sides With Student Athletes In NCAA Compensation Case
This has been talked about for years
The Supreme Court has ruled against the NCAA in a landmark decision on compensation for student athletes. In a unanimous 9-0 decision, the court ruled that the NCAA cannot restrict payments to athletes for things like musical instruments or compensation for internships.
Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote that such actions would amount to “price fixing” in a market where the NCAA has “monopoly control”. Justice Brett Kavanaugh also questioned “the NCAA’s business model of using unpaid student athletes to generate billions of dollars in revenue”. Do you think college athletes should be paid? Based on this SC decision, will that day arrive soon?
