I came across this thread on Reddit this morning and absolutely could not get enough of it, but this is something I love to do.  Seriously, how many times do you have people ask for recommendations on Netflix or Amazon or Hulu-whether it be TV shows or movies?  I know, right?  If you know Catherine Lane, then you know this is a pretty much every other day thing <g>.  Well, the thread on Reddit was for movies you've never heard of, but are worth a look.  Number one on their list?  "The Brothers Bloom."

I mean, how can you go wrong?  Three Oscar-nominated actors (Rachel Weiz, Adrian Brody, and Mark Ruffalo), plus a strong supporting cast in a quirky con movie...I'm in.  But it got me to thinking about things I recommend, so here we go with a couple.  First up, a movie.

Any time someone tells me they want to be scared, but not grossed out (too much <g>), I ALWAYS suggest "Event Horizon."  I'm not gonna give to much away, but what if a space ship reappeared after years of being thought to be lost and you were sent in to find out what happened with someone who might have an ulterior motive?  And don't panic if you're not a sci-fi person, the setting is space and you don't get all the tech-speak.  Trust me, it's great!

And if you're looking for a TV Show to, here's a hidden gem on Amazon.  I stumbled upon "Absentia" a couple of years ago and have been telling people about it ever since.  There are several seasons now, but the first is the best.  The premise?  An FBI agent declared "Dead in Absentia" all of the sudden re-emerges after years in the captivity of a madman.  Only, she's got no memory of where she was or what happened.  What unravels over the course of that season and the next couple is some awesome, binge-worthy TV.
