Best not to get in the water right now at Lake Wylie.  A no swim advisory has been issued after 847,000 gallons of sewage spilled over the weekend.

According to Channel 9 here's what happened; a reported pipe alignment issue allegedly caused the leak.  It has been repaired but before it was, lots of yucky stuff got out.  Of course Lake Wylie is enjoyed by thousands of people over the weekend.  And personally I am wondering how many people came in contact with the spill before authorities realized what had happened.

The spill started around 5:30 Friday afternoon and the untreated sewage was flowing til around 1:20 on Saturday.  It was discharged near the Paw Creek Lift Station on Old Dowd Road and right into the lake.  Even though the spill has stopped it may take a little while for the debris to dissipate.
