"Time Marches On, there's a lotta new/music and memories we'd be drinkin' to/I think about it and I laugh until it hurts/Cuz I can hear you singin' along to songs you never heard"  That's it.  That's the hook that got me.  This is not the first time that Luke Bryan touched my soul with a song about remembering someone.  "Drink A Beer" is one of my faves, but that was written by Chris Stapleton.  "Songs You Never Heard" was written by Luke (along with Luke Laird and Josh Osborne) and is a direct tribute to his late brother, Chris.

Chris passed away on the eve of Luke leaving to chase his dreams in Nashville.  According to Luke, he had no bigger fan.  His brother's death caused him to put his dreams on hold and stay home in Georgia for a while.  And if you're a believer in God's plan, keep in mind that during this time, Luke went to college and met his wife.  And of course eventually made his way to music city and his country music destiny.  This song was debuted on his excellent documentary, "Luke Bryan:  My Dirt Road Diary" airing right now on IMDB TV.  I love music.  And the longer I've been in the business of sharing it, I've come to realize what I love most is how it unites us.  This song was written for a specific person, yet its message is universal for us all.  I'll be thinking all day about all the souls who've passed thru my life who are no longer with me...and the songs they never heard.
