I am so sorry to see this news.  As someone who has owned horses I know how delicate these magnificent creatures really are.  My equine vet calls them "eggs on legs".  Still, this wild horse death on the coast of North Carolina looks like it could have been prevented.

This ten year old stallion named Hurricane, was part of a wild herd that had roamed the Outer Banks for centuries.  Apparently the poor guy got tangled  in some wire, possibly from a fence on someone's property.  He was discovered by someone who worked for a power company, rescued and got up but ultimately passed away as a result of being trapped in the hot sun for so long without any water.

The Corolla Horse Fund is asking property owners to check their yards for any debris where a horse might get entangled .  Officials say this death was preventable.  Here are all the details:
