TBT Hank Williams Jr’s False Teeth Flew Out In The Middle Of Family Tradition
This is a throwback Thursday story going back to 2007. But first I have to tell you about my personal connection to Hank Jr. Everyone knows everyone in Nashville and my sister has lived in tune town for all of her adult life. Her hairstylist was one of Hanks backup singer back in the day. And she may have been there for a funny incident that happened on this day back in 2007.
Her name is Macy(not her real name) and she says Hank Jr would often be spontaneous and want to perform at the drop of a hat. On this day all those years ago, he was in town and made an unannounced stop at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge which is right there on Broadway. He was performing one of his classics when the unthinkable happened.
He gets a little ways in to “Family Tradition” when his false teeth flew out of his mouth. To hear it told, he promptly pops them back and keeps on going. Now, that’s country. Here is a video of him doing the song, teeth intact:)
