Well, I’m not gonna sugar coat this…we’re bummed. Beginning the week of July 19th, Yale PhD student Matt Amodio has become as much a part of our nightly routine as dinner. See, that’s when he began his run as “Jeopardy!” champion. That run came to a halt yesterday. Here’s what’s weird, we’ve never been big watchers of the show, but we started recording it earlier this summer and watching each night as we ate supper. All told, his run lasted 38 games, 6 hosts, and over $1.5 million.
Now, not to go all conspiracy theory on you or anything, but we’ve got a theory. Matt Amodio threw this game last night. We think he was tired of the grind, figured he’d made enough money (3rd most all-time, only the third person to win over $1 million), assured his place in the big bucks/no whammies “Tournament of Champions,” and is a shoe-in for any special event tournaments that tend to pop up from time to time. Whether this is the case or not, I’m just not sure I’m gonna care about the show for a while. I’m gonna miss this nerd.
