Joe Don Rooney From Rascal Flatts Reportedly Blames Deer For His DWI Arrest
Come on Joe Don. I saw this headline this morning and I must admit I was a little disappointed. Of course, let’s keep in mind, Joe Don reportedly blamed the deer on his DWI arrest at the time of the arrest. I am sure he just wasn’t thinking clearly. Cause I love Joe Don and Rascal Flatts. Let’s back up.
Joe Don allegedly told law enforcement a wild story that led up to his Driving While Intoxicated arrest. According to a police affidavit and released on TMZ, Rooney told them when he was driving back in September, at 4 am, a deer ran out in front of him. Cops say Rooney blamed the deer for causing him to veer off the road. Reportedly Joe Don told authorities he had been to a friends house and had “one more drink than he should have”.
This story makes me sad on so many levels. I am going to put blame on the timing of his statement to the police for the content of what he said. He made that statement at the time of the arrest which means he was possibly still under the influence. We have to be responsible for what we say even then but that could be a reason. Thank God no one was injured in this incident and I am sincerely praying that Joe Don puts the blame on himself for driving under the influence. Most importantly I hope he is getting help. For someone who could easily afford to hire a driver, it is disturbing that he made the decision to get behind the wheel of a car. It just leads me to believe that things are not rosy in his life right now. I do not know this at all but the red flags are there. We love you Joe Don. We want you well and happy and healthy.
