New Buzz Lightyear Movie With New Buzz Lightyear?
This is a “who cares” for a lot of people, I get it. However, for those of us who raised kids who LOVED “Toy Story,” who raised kids that all they wanted for Christmas was “Buzz, Buzz, Buzz,” this is a big deal on a couple of levels. First, Disney is apparently releasing a “Buzz Lightyear” origin story next year. Cool. HOWEVER, for the first time-ever-Buzz WILL NOT be voice by Tim Allen. The new Buzz is Chris Evans. Y’all this could be the kids’ equivalent of the first time they changed who played James Bond.
The film’s director, Angus MacLane, explains that “Lightyear” is about Buzz the space ranger not the toy from “Toy Story”. MacLane adds that there will be things throughout the film that connects Buzz the space ranger to Buzz the toy, like his space suit, and his famous catchphrase, “To infinity and beyond”. Chris Evans, best known for his role as Captain America, makes his debut as the iconic character next June. All that being said, there are two thoughts: 1. I don’t think little kids will care that there’s a new voice, in fact most will not even notice (his tone sounded a lot like Tim Allen in the trailer). 2. My big kid is NOT going to be happy about this at all. 😉
