All The Roads That Will Be Closed This Weekend For The Charlotte Marathon
Runners will be lining the streets of Charlotte this weekend for the Charlotte Marathon, and many inner-city roads will be closed off for a time. I remember back in 2019, I had no idea the Charlotte marathon was going on, and got caught in one of the worst traffic jams of my entire life.
This weekend, the Novant Health Charlotte Marathon is returning, and I am making sure that I’m prepared, and know the race route.
The race will take place on Saturday, November 13th, and registration is still open for those wanting to run a marathon, half-marathon, or 5k. In previous years, nearly 1000 runners finished the race.
If you’re not planning on running, but are planning on getting out and about on Saturday (morning specifically), here is the route, and therefor, the areas you will want to avoid, as there will be road closures and delays on these streets.
The race will start in uptown, and first loop runners around Bank of America Stadium, Trade Street, and most of uptown. Then the race goes towards Novant Health hospital, leading a loop all the way to Queens road. The race then runs back down S kings road, around Dillworth, and then back to downtown for the halfway point. Then the race heads towards Noda and Plaza Midwood, running notable roads like The Plaza, N.Davidson, and a small section of Central. At the last leg of the race, runners will make their way back to Uptown on S Graham Street.
As you can see, most of the city roads, and neighborhoods will be affected by the Marathon at some point on Saturday.

Here’s a cool video of the race route too.
Good luck to all the runners, and if you’re planning on running errands on Saturday morning, remember to plan your routes ahead so you don’t get stuck in traffic.
