Lethal Weapon 5 Is Happening
I remember being a junior in high school and going to see what was described to me by a friend as “a really cool cop movie starring that dude from ‘The Road Warrior’.” That was it. My entire pre-conceived notion of “Lethal Weapon,” as I entered the theater. Of course, what I saw was what to become the gold-standard of “Buddy-Action-Comedies.” Oh, and yes…tis the season. Lethal Weapon is a Christmas movie.
Anyway, as they say, the rest is history. “Lethal Weapon” spawned 3 sequels and a TV show. The original cast (Mel Gibson and Danny Glover) last appeared in “Lethal Weapon 4” more than 20 years ago. Now comes news that Gibson is not only getting the band back together for a fifth go around, but will direct as well. The director of the first four, Richard Donner, recently passed away and it was his request that this happen (Donner was almost completed with the screenplay). So, LW5 goes before the cameras sometime in 2022. Now, action may be a relative term for this movie as the combined age of the two stars is 140 (Gibson-65/Glover-75).
