Several times a year, I get the opportunity to work as the PA announcer for The Charlotte Checkers.  Hockey is a blast to see in person and from the vantage point of on the ice-center ice, it doesn’t get much better.  One of the greatest games I ever got to call in person was a playoff game with The Checkers and The Hershey Bears a few years ago that our guys won, 1-0.  It was an incredibly exciting game.  So, when I saw The Hershey Bears in the news this morning, my attention was had.  Turns out the team broke a world record on Saturday.  During their 20th annual “Teddy Bear Toss,” the team’s fans threw more than 50,000 stuffed bruins on the ice.  The toss is an annual charity event that benefits more than 25 organizations.   The previous record was from 2019 (45,650 bears).  Saturday night, the team swept 52,341 from the ice.  WOW!
