North Carolina Man Wins $4 Million In The Lottery Off Fortune Cookie Numbers

Well, this was one fortune that did come true. I have to admit, I often forget to look at the numbers of fortune cookies but one North Carolina man is glad he did. Those lottery fortune cookie numbers won him a whopping $4 million. That will buy a lot of Chinese takeout!

Gabriel Fierro went for his weekly meal at Charlotte's Red Bowl restaurant. And when he finished he decided to purchase a lottery ticket with the numbers from his fortune cookie. And as quick as that he's got $4 million more in the bank. The 60-year-old is a disabled Army combat veteran. He told lottery officials that he doesn't typically play the numbers from his fortune cookie but last week he decided to. He purchased the Mega Millions ticket online and additionally purchased the 'Megaplier'. So when those lottery fortune cookie numbers matched up on the white balls, that $1 Million was multiplied to $4 million.

And that $4 million prize? It's actually the largest win in the history of Online Play in the North Carolina Education Lottery. Fierro says he received an email alerting him of his win. After taxes, he took home $2,840,401.
