Normally, we have to wait for the digital/Blu-Ray release of a movie to get a nugget like this. Yesterday, with "The Batman" still killing it at the box office, director Matt Reeves release a deleted scene in with Robert Pattison's Batman confronts The Joker at the asylum he's incarcerated in.
Barry Keoghan is the latest to portray "The Clown Prince of Crime." As cool as this scene is, and as much as I'd have like to see some more of his character in "The Batman," I'm glad it was deleted. Why? "The Batman" is a truly unique and original take on the character. The last thing it needs is to just recycle a scene that has become cliche: the detective visits the criminal he incarcerated to get his take on the latest problem. Want an example? From Michael Mann's BRILLIANT "Manhunter," Will Graham visits Dr. Hannibal Lecktor.
And this scene would be replayed in "Silence of the Lambs" when Clarice Starling visits (on multiple occassions) Dr. Lecktor.
And this scene is played out in many more movies, all the time. So again, I think Reeves made the right decision keeping his "Joker" scene out of "The Batman." No need to cloud a classic with cliche.
