Tearful Will Smith Apologizes To Everyone But Chris Rock After ‘The Slap’
Wouldn’t you have loved to be a fly on the wall at the Smith home after the Oscars last night. Our morning show has been buzzing all about the “slap”. There really isn’t any other story going on at the moment. In case you haven’t heard, after a very tasteless joke made my Chris Rock referencing Jada Pinkett Smith’s lack of hair (she has alopecia), Will Smith approaches the stage and slaps Chris Rock across the face. He then returns to his seat and hurl’s a profanity-laced “request” for Rock to keep “His wife’s (blank) name out of his mouth”. Did Jada think that was chivalrous? Or did she smack him across the face for smacking someone live on National television? That is something we will never know.
Will Smith did give a teary-eyed apology during his acceptance speech for winning the best actor Oscar for his role in “King Richard”. “I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award”.
Smith could barely contain his tears saying “art imitates life. I looked like a crazy father, just like they said about Richard Williams. But love will make you do crazy things.” “Thank you for this honor. I am hoping the Academy invites me back”.
Was this whole thing real or just REALLY good acting? If it was acting would it be at Jada’s expense and would it be a violent act? I think what we saw was a human being acting on impulse. And it was unfortunate.
