I had a moment today when I went, “No, it can’t have been this long?!” Back in 1995, Debbie and I were working for a radio station in Greenville, SC. Our boss ran in the studio one day, waving a CD, and saying, “Man, we gotta get this on right now! You’re not gonna believe it!” What came out of the speakers was a 13-year-old girl from Texas named LeAnn Rimes-belting out a song called, “Blue.” The response was universal: This is the second coming of Patsy Cline.
Flash forwards all these years later and she may not have had that impact, but LeAnn Rimes has had an amazing career and now is having it celebrated with a very special edition of CMT Crossroads featuring Carly Pearce, Ashley McBryde, Brandy Clark, and Mickey Guyton. The show will air on CMT, April 14th at 8pm. And if this performance/reinterpretation of Rimes’ “One Way Ticket” is any indication, “CMT Crossroads: LeAnn Rimes and Friends” is not to be missed.
And just in case you’ve forgotten the original, this will be a HUGE example of why I can’t wait to see what these ladies come up with on April 14.
