Every now and again Troy Gentry will cross my mind. I came to work at the radio station back in the late nineties right around the time, he and his best friend Eddie Montgomery were at their peak as Montgomery Gentry.
Eddie and Troy were both Kentucky natives and both tried their hand at solo careers. Like many great duos, together they were just magic. They released six albums and charted dozens of hits. Those boys had a lot of fun along the way and it was always a pleasure when they came to town.
Sadly, we lost Troy back in 2017. Montgomery Gentry was scheduled to perform one evening in Medford, New Jersey when Troy took a helicopter tour earlier that day. The helicopter crashed, killing the pilot instantly and Troy died on the way to the hospital. To learn more just check out this article in The Tennessean
Eddie still tours from time to time as Montgomery Gentry honoring and remembering his partner along the way. This is one of my favorites from them. Enjoy.
