The notion of someone who has his/her life taken away or paused only to resume it later is nothing new in literature, Hollywood or entertainment. Off the top of my head, “Les Miserables” and “Cast Away” both tackle this concept. However, Rebel Wilson’s “Senior Year” (coming to Netflix) looks to be a unique take. Wilson plays a popular high school senior who, due to a botched cheerleading stunt, ends up in a coma for 20 years. When she wakes up, she’s 38, and ready to get on with her life as an 18-year-old.
Just based on the Madonna/Lady GaGa joke, I can tell you I’m gonna really like the time lapse gags in this movie. Another great line: “Everybody else just got to go on and live their lives, and I’m supposed to just jump forward? I mean I just found out there’s 8 more ‘Fast and Furious’ movies!” “Senior Year” debuts on Netflix May 13.
