Please Tell Me Ric Flair Isn’t Doing This
As a boy, here was my “Mount Rushmore of Men”: Adam West (Batman), Burt Reynolds (The Bandit), Lee Majors (The Six Million Dollar Man), and Ric Flair. That’s it, that’s the list. So, one of the great thrills of my life when we moved to Charlotte in 2006 is that from time to time, I would run into “The Nature Boy.” The above picture with my son was a really cool moment for me. Anyway, all good things must end. Father Time is undefeated. As great a wrestler, as amazing an entertainer as “Naitch” was, he’s 73-years-old now. He’s just a couple of years removed from a near death experience. In other words, I don’t want to see Ric Flair in a wrestling ring-competing-ever again. Then this video came out yesterday.
Back in the day, Ric and Jay Lethal made in-ring magic toward the end of Flair’s career in Impact Wrestling. According to Ric, someone asked him if he could still “do it.” 1. I hope it wasn’t Jay Lethal. 2. I sincerely hope this was Ric just showing off for an old man and not contemplating trying to get back in a ring. The number one rule of sports/entertaining legends: NEVER do anything to tarnish a legacy.
