In partnership with the Town of Waxhaw, NC, the Independence Fund will host a ceremony at the Waxhaw Military Wall of Honor on Sunday, April 24, 2022, in honor of retired SGT Michael Verardo.

The Independence Fund and the state of North Carolina marked Wounded Heroes Day on April 24th, 2021, bypassing House Bill 138/Senate Bill 132. From 1 pm to 2 pm, the event will take place. The ceremony will take place at the Military Wall of Honor in Waxhaw.

The day commemorates SGT Michael Verardo’s Alive Day, which commemorates the day that he survived severe, life-altering injuries sustained in Afghanistan. In 2022, Michael will celebrate his 12th Alive Day and North Carolina will celebrate its second Wounded Heroes Day.     Located at 44 Ochre Point Ave, Newport, RI 02840. It is a massive home! One of the most stunning houses along the East Coast would be the Breakers. It was originally constructed for Cornelius Vanderbilt II.     Located at 931 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy, Charlottesville, VA 22902. In history, the Third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, lived at Monticello, a colony in Virginia. The reason Monticello is the most visited house in America is that it has come known as a “ home of firsts.” The Monticello was the first home in the United States to have inner toilets, a domed ceiling, and indeed the precursor of a Murphy Bed, which is raised and lowered into the wall.     Located at 750 Hearst Castle Rd, San Simeon, CA 93452. The Hearst Castle looks like something out of a storybook. It was owned by William Randolph Hearst, who started the San Francisco Examiner review commissioned the castle. In the present day, the Hearst Castle is a place for well-known art, vestiges, and collectibles from around the world.     This is the historic home of the one and only King of Rock, Elvis Presley. You can see the famous Jungle Room, along with several museums nearby, hundreds of memorabilia from Elvis’ music career.   • 3. 1892 Bishop’s Palace

    Located at 1402 Broadway Avenue J, Galveston, TX 77550.
