Wounded Heroes Day Waxhaw Ceremony Happening This Weekend

In partnership with the Town of Waxhaw, NC, the Independence Fund will host a ceremony at the Waxhaw Military Wall of Honor on Sunday, April 24, 2022, in honor of retired SGT Michael Verardo.

The Independence Fund and the state of North Carolina marked Wounded Heroes Day on April 24th, 2021, bypassing House Bill 138/Senate Bill 132. From 1 pm to 2 pm, the event will take place. The ceremony will take place at the Military Wall of Honor in Waxhaw.

The day commemorates SGT Michael Verardo’s Alive Day, which commemorates the day that he survived severe, life-altering injuries sustained in Afghanistan. In 2022, Michael will celebrate his 12th Alive Day and North Carolina will celebrate its second Wounded Heroes Day. The map below depicts the different public parking lots available around the event site (circled in red). Please keep in mind that there will be road closures, and plan accordingly.     Located in Miami, Florida. The address is 3251 S Miami Ave, Miami, FL 33129. The Vizcaya is the epitome of Floridian fineness.     I visited this house last year! It was really cool to see history come alive. The address is 239 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA 19106. This is the home where the first American flag was created and lived. The most distinctive point about the Betsy Ross House is the circle of 13 stars on the flag out front. Latterly, go check out the Liberty Bell and other remnants from the social periods. You can see more here.

  • 8. The Breakers

    Located at 44 Ochre Point Ave, Newport, RI 02840. It is a massive home! One of the most stunning houses along the East Coast would be the Breakers. It was originally constructed for Cornelius Vanderbilt II. The Breakers has square bases of space participated between 70 apartments and the factual footmark of the structure covers one acre out of the 13 that make up the entire estate.   • 7. George Washington’s House

    Located at 3200 Mount Vernon Hwy, Mt Vernon, VA 22121. Want to visit George Washington’s plantation? The entire house is decorated in furnishings from when Washington was still alive.   • 6. Monticello

    Located at 931 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy, Charlottesville, VA 22902. In history, the Third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, lived at Monticello, a colony in Virginia. The reason Monticello is the most visited house in America is that it has come known as a “ home of firsts.” The Monticello was the first home in the United States to have inner toilets, a domed ceiling, and indeed the precursor of a Murphy Bed, which is raised and lowered into the wall.   • 5. Hearst Castle

    Located at 750 Hearst Castle Rd, San Simeon, CA 93452. The Hearst Castle looks like something out of a storybook. It was owned by William Randolph Hearst, who started the San Francisco Examiner review commissioned the castle. In the present day, the Hearst Castle is a place for well-known art, vestiges, and collectibles from around the world. It took over 28 times to finish and has 56 bedrooms, 61 bathrooms, and over square bases space. You can see more here.

  • 4. Graceland Mansion

    This is the historic home of the one and only King of Rock, Elvis Presley. You can see the famous Jungle Room, along with several museums nearby, hundreds of memorabilia from Elvis’ music career. You even get to see some of Elvis’ cars and private jets. If you want to experience Graceland overnight, the mansion even has some rooms for rent. You can see more here.

  • 3. 1892 Bishop’s Palace

    Located at 1402 Broadway Avenue J, Galveston, TX 77550. Previously acknowledged as Gresham House, the Bishop’s Palace used to be created in 1892 and, in accordance to the Galveston Historical Society, is one of the most tremendous Victorian residences at some stage in the US.     One of the best houses in North Carolina is the beautiful Biltmore Estate. It is a lovely Victorian fortress that has 250 rooms.
