Miranda Lambert’s new Palomino album is out, and fans are getting a chance to hear all the latest music, including Miranda’s collaboration with new wave icons the B-52’s.

Lambert told us just how that fun collaboration came about. She offered, “When we wrote ‘Music City Queen, ‘ Natalie (Hemby) started doing this cool thing on her work tape (singing) ‘Rollin down the river,’ and I think Luke (Dick) was like, ‘That sounds like B-52’s, and we started talking about it, and I was like, ‘Well, I could just text Marion ( her manager) and just ask her if there’s a way to get a hold of them.’ I don’t even know what they’re doing these days, I know they all live in different places, and so Marion reached out and found who to reach out to. And I was like, ‘What if they hate the song and say no?’ I won’t forget it. Then, she sent me a text and said, ‘The B-52’s are in.’ Oh my gosh, this is so cool.”

Miranda continued, “So they ended up Zooming because one’s in New York, one’s in California, and one’s in Atlanta, I think. So,  they just Zoomed in, and I just watched the magic.”

Lambert admits she hopes this isn’t the last time she teams up with the legendary group, “I haven’t ever still got to meet them in person. I’m hoping there is a moment at some point of B-52’s, ML collab, and whatever we do, I get to sing ‘Love Shack’ with them. I mean, how much cooler can you ask for (laughs). I’m putting that out there in the world.” She should hurry up if she wants to make that happen: the B-52’s are about to embark on their farewell tour.

Miranda posted to Instagram about her new project, writing, “My new album ‘Palomino’ is out now. You’ll visit 36 different places as you travel through this record. You’ll meet tons of characters like Katie with a K and the trucker Dwayne. You’ll get acquainted with old friends, like Geraldene, and visit places we’ve already been together, like Waxahachie. Enjoy the trip y’all.”
