I'm not Catholic but I do know that a child's first communion is a really big deal. In the church I grew up in, everyone was welcome to take communion but in the Catholic church it is more of a rite of passage.
From what I understand Catholic communion is similar to Protestant communion. The church leader gives you a cracker or bread which signifies the body of Christ and then you take a sip of juice or wine and it represents the blood of Christ. I am going by my Baptist upbringing here.
One little South Dakota girl has gone viral because she went to town on that communion wine and the Priest's reaction is everything. Of course this went viral. Enjoy.
