WFLA says VHS tapes are making a comeback. Gen X and millennials have started collecting the tapes. Heritage Auctions in Dallas is holding an upcoming auction and expects 300 VHS movies to sell for between $500,000 and $1 million.
Movies up for auction include Blade Runner, The Goonies, The Back to the Future movies, the Indiana Jones movies, and Star Wars films. Some of the tapes are still wrapped while others are in pristine condition.
A number of the movies released in 1977 are truly snapshots of the time when they hit theaters 45 years ago.
