I don't think I'll ever forget being called into our boss' office a few years ago to hear a new song from Cole Swindell.  This was an everyday occurrence.  Our boss had a passion for country music like few I've ever known.  And he loved to share new music-especially from new artists (and Cole was pretty new at the time).  Anyway, he had tears rolling down his face and challenged me to make it through this entire song without needing a Kleenex.  "You Should Be Here" came out of the speakers and I made it through verse one and chorus one.  And then the waterworks began.  I still have my father and I was a mess.  Anyway, "You Should Be Here" became a huge hit and I imagine a song that Cole Swindell gets emails and correspondence from fans on the regular.  Which leads me to tell you about the "Country In The Park" festival in California over the weekend.  Cole had a special dedication of the song to late El Dorado Co. Deputy Austin Ramsey who passed away last year from an apparent suicide.

If you haven't heard the song, "You Should Be Here" is about losing someone close to you and wishing they were there for life's amazing moments.   Swindell sported a Ramsey-named bracelet during the performance. He talked to Officer Ramsey’s brother, Coleton Ramsey, his family, and friends. Coleton stated Cole Swindell was “genuine.” Ramsey was 25 years old and had served in Afghanistan. He was a former Army Ranger and combat veteran.  Two things crossed my mind watching this.  First, how cool is Cole Swindell?  And second, as great as that moment must have been, you just know the Ramsey family would trade it all to have their Austin back.  Folks, mental health is a crisis that I'm afraid we're not even close to realizing how bad it is.  Be aware of all the people around you.  Shower them with love.
