There is a lot being said about Netflix’s mysterious project, “The Gray Man” recently.  And not a lot of it good.  Let’s start with the positive that we know.  First, it’s directed by The Russo Brothers (the geniuses behind three of the best “Avengers” films:  “Captain America:  Civil War,” “Avengers:  Infinity War,” and “Avengers:  Endgame”).  Second, the cast includes Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Billy Bob Thornton, and Alfre Woodard.  All, heavy hitters.  Now, the bad stuff.  The budget has ballooned to north of $225 million.  A LOT for any movie, much less one that will be primarily dependent on subscribers to make that money back (no wonder our Netflix subscriptions are going up).  It’s officially the costliest Netflix project to date.  And up until yesterday, we really hadn’t seen much of it in the form of teasers or trailers.  Then, we got this gift.

This looks amazing, right?  It’s like a “Jason Bourne” movie.  I’m fired up.   “The Gray Man” is based on the novel of the same name and is the story of a CIA operative (Ryan Gosling) who was once a highly skilled, agency-sanctioned assassin.  Now?  The tables have turned, and he is the target, hunted across the globe by a former cohort at the CIA (Chris Evans).  “The Gray Man” premiers July 22.
