United Press International says Gregory Foster of San Diego California recently set a world record when he ate three Carolina Reaper peppers in 8.72 seconds. He beat the old record by one second. The Carolina Reaper has 1.6 million Scoville Heat Units. An average jalapeno has 2,500.
Foster says "in practicing for an attempt like this it is more about mechanics and muscle memory, so I time myself eating small sweet peppers to get the chewing and swallowing down to an automatic response.
