Kannapolis Man Stops to Buy A Drink And Won A $700,000 Lottery Instead

Stephen Kardos is like many of us around here. We like to fish and we get thirsty. Those two things are what put him at the right spot at the right time. I love these kind of stories. Stephen was on his way to do a little pier fishing when he stopped at a convenience store in Wilmington.
Stephen went it to get a little drink before his long day of reeling them in and he decided to buy a lottery ticket. But this wasn’t just any lottery ticket. He purchased the $10 scorching hot 7s ticket.
He says he almost cried when he realized he won $700,000 !! He says he plans to buy a house and possibly even spend more time in Wilmington. After taxes he takes home $497,073.
