Cyclist Wins Race Then Runs Over Wife
It’s a familiar sight: a professional cyclist crosses the finish line in first place and immediately releases the handlebars of his bicycle and extends his arms skyward in exultation. And EVERY time I’ve seen this, I’ve heard my mother yelling at me from the kitchen window as a child, “David Charles Nance Jr. GET YOUR HANDS BACK ON THE BIKE.” Perhaps, Luis Carlos Chia didn’t have the same mom to provide this subconscious frame of reference. <g> My man finishes first. Then the next thing you see is him and his wife (cyclist-turned photographer, Claudia Ronacancio) both on the ground in bad shape! Apparently, when his hands were off the bike, she jumped in front of him to catch a photo and he plowed into her. Chia was able to limp off, but the wife? She was knocked out and had to seek medical attention once she regained consciousness-which included getting her head stitched up.

I know it was unintentional, but still…as a husband…will this dude EVER be able to apologize enough to make up for this? You just KNOW that every time they argue, she’s gonna point to that scar on her head at some point and that will be the end of the discussion.
