Chris Evans has quietly made a career of playing iconic characters on film.  For example, this past weekend, Evans took over the “Buzz Lightyear” voice mantel from Tim Allen in Disney’s “Lightyear.”  Of course, Evans is best known as “Captain America” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe more than a dozen times.  However, Cap was not Evans’ first dip in the water of Marvel heroes.  Anyone remember him as “Johnny Storm” aka “The Human Torch” from two “Fantastic Four” movies?

I know, it’s easy to forget because the “Avenger” movies just suck up all the oxygen in the room.  However, my comic-loving son has ALWAYS said how great Evans was in the role and how he hates that no one mentions it.  Well, guess who is mentioning it now?  That’s right, Chris Evans!  In fact, in a recent interview, he revealed the role he would play  again if asked is indeed The Human Torch.  “Wouldn’t that be great?  I don’t exactly look the same anymore. That was 15, almost 20 years ago. Oh my God, I’m old.” He added, “That would actually be an easier sell to me than coming back as Cap. Cap is so precious to me. I almost don’t wanna disrupt what a beautiful experience that was.”   Evans continued, “But Johnny Storm, I feel like he didn’t really get his day. That was before Marvel really found its footing. So, I loved that role and, you know, who knows.”   Now, there is a new “Fantastic Four” movie in the works with Marvel, but there’s little to no chance of Evans appearing in it as Johnny Storm.  However, wouldn’t a “wink-wink” cameo be cool?
