Fireworks Burst Over New York City On Fourth Of July

WEEHAWKEN, NJ. – JULY 4: The New York City skyline is seen in the distance as fireworks explode over the Hudson River during the Macy’s fireworks display July 4, 2009 in Weehawken, New Jersey. It was the first time since 2000 that the Macy’s display took place over the Hudson River and not the East River.

The Fourth of July is slowly approaching. Some are wondering what food to have at the cookout or which fireworks they want to let off, some may even be traveling to visit family. Well hopefully, they aren't going somewhere not worth celebrating.

Wallet Hub conducted a study on the best and worst places to celebrate the Fourth of July. Yeah, that's right there are some cities that are the worst of them all! While celebrations have been limited the last few years due to the pandemic, the time has come for celebrations to return. Cities are happy to bring back some of their favorite patriotic celebrations. This year alone, Americans are expected to spend a collective $7.7 billion on just food this holiday season, according to Wallet Hub. Yeah, you read that right! That sounds like a lot of hot dogs and hamburgers for the weekend.

To find the best (and worst) places to celebrate, Wallet Hub considers 100 of the top cities across the nation. Comparing how they balance holiday fun and cost, Wallet Hub discusses the best places to celebrate the Fourth of July. North Carolina unfortunately did not make it too high on the list. Coming in at No. 32 is Charlotte, North Carolina. Meanwhile, it could be a lot worse but we are not one of the top 10 states to celebrate in. With an estimate of 33 Fourth of July celebrations happening this year, the city made it just above the halfway mark. Do you have plans to celebrate the Fourth in the city this year?
