The town of Kenly is facing a bit of a delima. All the officers who were working at the Kenly Police Department resigned and put in their two weeks notice Wednesday afternoon. Kenly is a town in Johnson County North Carolina southeast of Raleigh. According to a Facebook post from one of the officers who resigned said it was due to a new town manager.
ABC 11 reports that Josh Gibson (the former chief), the five officers on staff, the town clerk, and the utilities clerk have all resigned. They were understaffed as it was which was leading to immense amounts of stress. No word on how Kenly will handle operations now that the police department resigned. This comes as departments around the state and country are already understaffed and having trouble recruiting.
