See Russian Chess Robot Break Boy’s Finger
Is this the moment when it begins? By “it,” I mean the moment when the computers/robots finally have enough of sharing the world with us and turn the tables? Look, before you start yelling, “The Terminator isn’t real,” check this out. A chess-playing robot in Russia was apparently miffed by the quick response(s) of his seven-year-old opponent. So much so that the machine appears to just reach out, grab, and break the boy’s finger in a tournament match over the weekend.
Now, as much as I HATE what happened to the boy, I love the response from Russian officials. The president of the Moscow Chess Federation told news outlets: “The robot broke the child’s finger. This is of course bad.” And here I thought there was no common ground between the Russians and me. <g>
