According to CBS, Sprite is going green by abandoning the traditional green look it has had for six decades. The lemon-lime drink, best known for its distinctive green-colored bottles, is ditching its green-tinted look beginning Monday. This is according to a news release from Coca-Cola.

The company would be changing its packaging for the lemon-lime soda from green to clear plastic as part of an effort to reduce plastic waste.┬áSprite’s current packaging contains green polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Although it is recyclable, it cannot be specifically recycled into new bottles.
