Carowinds Has Closed Down Four RIdes

According to WBTV, our beloved Carowinds has closed down four rides at the park. In a statement from Carowinds, the Yo-Yo, Dodgem, Plants vs. Zombies, and Southern Star attractions closed earlier this week on Aug. 1.

Looks like it might be because Carowinds has some exciting news. They say they have a ‘major announcement this Thursday, Aug. 11. The announcement is in regards to the 2023 operating season.

Dodgem has been at the park the longest, opening in 1979, followed by Yo-Yo in 1981, the Southern Star in 1986, and Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare in 1993. The Plants vs. Zombies attraction was re-themed in 2016. They better keep my favorite ride. Those swings that go about 15 feet off the ground. That is my adventure limit!

Rollercoaster fans get ready for the NBT!

Carowinds new double-launch coaster is finally here! This is the FIRST coaster of its kind in the Carolina's and it submerges you in the culture of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Copperhead Strike first launches you from 0 to 42 mph in 2.5 seconds and then a second time from 35 to 50 mph in 2 seconds.

The Copperhead Strike is officially open to the public on Saturday, March 23rd, 2019 but we've got some exclusive photos to share before you ride the coaster for yourself!
