According to WCNC, uptown Charlotte’s Epicentre is scheduled finally be sold today. This is weeks after the original auction was moved again. This seems to be a running issue with this auction.
Epicentre was last scheduled to be auctioned on July 26, but the sale was delayed until Aug. 9. The original sale was going to happen in May. However, a substitute trustee postponed the auction moments before it began.
The Epicentre was the place to go for several years in uptown. The crowds started to dwindle. And the ownership defaulted on an 85 million dollar loan.
The Epicentre was opened in 2008, conveniently positioned near the Spectrum Center and public transit. While it became a popular nightlife spot, the hub was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors that lead to its demise.
