Gallery: I Am Recovering From A Surgery That Is Hard To Name and Claim

I have been going back and forth on this. Do I talk to you about it or not, or should I just write about it. It is something that honestly was hard to discuss even with some of my closest friends. It is the most personal and honestly one of the most painful things I have ever gone through. Only my morning show cast mates and Charlie and Debbie know at work and now you will too. I thought maybe this would help you if you are going through the same thing.
So, why all the hush hush about a surgery I had two weeks ago. Well, because it was on, in and around one of the most vulnerable and private places on the body. Let me preface this by saying how it all started. One word, pregnancy. When I was pregnant with my son William (now grown) I noticed pain in my bottom....see I can hardly say the word. Ok, my rectum. Sheesh, it is a body part but oh it is so private. Anyway, it turns out I had hemorrhoids and not just any kind of hemorrhoids but one developed a blood clot and I had to go to the doctor to have it lanced/cut out. When I delivered Will, it made matters worse. Here I am many years later and really in trouble.
I will save you the gory details but my doctor at Charlotte Colon and Rectal, informed me that is was time to have them removed. I had done all I could but it was time for a surgeon to intervene.
I found out that this is so common!! So if you are one of the 3/4 adult population that suffers with this, do not be ashamed! It can happen to any adult or older teenager, young or old, rich or poor. While I was in the surgery center there was a guy in there getting the same surgery that looked like he was about 22 and a young lady, maybe 34. And don't worry, surgery is NOT required most of the time. I'm just one of the special ones:) Find out more from the Mayo Clinic here. Here are a few pics from my recovery. And bless my husband Rick. He worked 24/7 to keep me as comfortable as possible while I was healing.
