shutterstockHow awesome is this for one of our local folks? According to WBTV, Jimmie Shindler of Gastonia bought a $2 Lucky for Life ticket and won the top prize of $1,000 a day for life.
He did it with just a couple of clicks on the internet. Shindler bought his ticket for Wednesday’s drawing through Online Play on the lottery’s website.
The odds of winning the $1,000 a day for life prize are 1 in 30.8 million. Officials say Jimmy claimed his prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. He had some thinking to do though. Which option to take? He had the choice of receiving $365,000 a year each year for the rest of his life or a $5,750,000 lump sum. He chose the lump sum and after taxes took home $4.08 million. Congrats Jimmy!

Those who do strike it rich often try to keep the winnings quiet. 83% of Americans say they wouldn’t want to tell others if they won. Significant others are in luck though - people say they’d give their SO a little more than 25%, but also said they’d expect more than 25% if the roles were reversed.
