The Governor of South Carolina is asking a school district to stop gender identity instruction without parental consent. According to Fox46, Governor McMaster is asking the Charleson School District to stop its teaching without approval from parents.

Gov. McMaster sent a letter to the school board. It states that CCSD personnel distributed copies of an article, “I am Leo,” to students attending a health class at Camp Road Middle School. This was done without parental knowledge.

The article follows Leo Lipson, a 16-year-old who shares what it is like to grow up transgender. Students were also assigned questions based on the reading.

A  letter from a parent said they were shocked and appalled to discover the material was distributed to the class.

The parent said, “Not only does it talk about taking hormone blockers and physically changing your body, but it encourages children to seek help and advice from social media and the internet! It is completely dismantling family values! This article appears to glorify the gender-changing process, without highlighting any of the well-documented negative mental and physical changes.”

That parent said they requested a meeting with the school’s principal to discuss the assignment. The principal alleged the lesson was not approved by anyone and was looped in with a previous lesson plan.

Two of the Country’s Hottest Zip Codes Are In South Carolina

The South Carolina home market like much of the country is exploding. Trying to purchase a house can be overwhelming; these days, you can expect to pay significantly over the asking price. So it comes as no surprise that on Realtor.com's list of the hottest zip codes two South Carolina cities were mentioned.

Realtor.com compiles this list yearly. This year many of the included zip codes are in or commutable to high-cost metros. However these growing areas are currently priced lower than their immediate surroundings. This gives homebuyers the perfect marriage of value and location. The skyrocketing demand for homes means that most properties in these areas are spending 20 to 26 fewer days on market than the typical US home.

According to the study, Realtor.com’s Hottest Zip Code rankings take into account two aspects of the housing market. These include market demand, as measured by unique viewers per property on realtor.com.  And the pace of the market as measured by the number of days a listing remains active on realtor.com. The hottest areas are those that have high demand from buyers. In other words, lots of unique viewers per each property listed for sale, and fast-selling homes, indicators of limited supply.
