Archdale, North Carolina Haunted House Among The Nation’s Scariest
Tis the season for lists of America’s Scariest Haunted Attractions. As I was preparing today’s show, I came across just such a list. Here are some of the names and places: Pennhurst Asylum – Spring City, PA, 13th Gate – Baton Rouge, LA, HellsGate – Lockport, IL. and The Darkness – St. Louis, MO. And then, just as I was about to go, “Ho-hum” and peace-out, what should I see? Coming in at Number 8 on the list, “Kersey Valley Spooky Woods” in Archdale.
From the Kersey Valley’s website is this: WARNING: Enter our attraction along a dark, winding dirt road, surrounded by haunted woods. If you are brave, roll down your windows to take in the night’s stale air… but beware! From the moment you arrive on Kersey Valley property, you are fair game to each and every haunted creature residing here. You will encounter special effects of light, sound, smell, dense atmosphere, air pressure, and may come in contact with liquid substances. Leave your best pair of sneaks at home, but bring an extra pair of undies! Tripadvisor gives Kersey Valley a 4.5 out of 5 rating. According to Tamara B: “The best haunted house around!! And I pass another to get to spookywoods!! Most awesome people!! Went out of their way to make my grandson day the best!! Spent the whole day here, a great place for family fun and a haunted house at night!!! It was fantastic!!” Courtney from Charleston, WV says, “This was my first haunted house and I loved it! Will definitely go again! I recommend going early because we did wait a while in line. But they had staff interacting with us during the wait so that helped keep it entertaining” And Annette C states, “I must say that Spookywoods is the very best haunt around, hands down! The scares are insane and some are heart stopping! Jump scares are the best, and it seems as if the haunt has put much thought into every phobia people have! The fog, the music, the creative designs of the sets and the characters are a total collaboration of fear! My teens and I love going to Spookywoods and this year didn’t disappoint! If you have been, you know what I am talking about…if you have never been, you are missing the best haunt available! Now Kersey Valley is NOT your normal “haunted house.” Ticketing is done online (from $30) and visits are by pre-determined appointment.
